Best Cities for Outdoor Lovers: Idaho Springs

National Great Outdoors Month is well underway and we want to take a moment to highlight the natural wonders of Idaho Springs. No matter which way you prefer the great outdoors, the best cities for outdoor lovers definitely includes this hidden gem of Colorado.

Let’s Kick the Dirt Up!

Our mountains are simply breathtaking, and at 11,000 plus feet of elevation, the views don’t get better than this. St Mary’s Glacier is one of the most iconic hiking spots in the city, and you can bring your pup as a companion too! If biking is more of your thing, then you’ll want to hit Chief Mountain Trail. Riding by the Arapaho National Forest gives you a site of the Rockies you’ve never seen! These are only a couple of the great trails Idaho Springs has to offer, so we recommend using AllTrails to find the greatest views in the city. Ice skating in Idaho Springs is now an option at The Frozen Fire Ice Rink at Digger Field. It is a synthetic ice rink that allows for ice skating no matter what the temperature. This is a truly unique Colorado ice rink. There’s also historic walking tours, ziplining, and more that makes Idaho Springs one of the best cities for outdoor lovers.

Blow Your Expectations Out of the Water!

If you’re a fish out of water, then we have some great aquatic activities too! Echo Lake is surrounded by luscious greenery and the perfect body of water for enjoying a calm afternoon. Fishing is also a great way to pass the time outdoors! You can catch some rainbow trout with no experience or gear required at Mt. Evans Trout Fishing. If you’re looking for something a little more adventurous, rafting is the way to go! As one of the best cities for outdoor lovers, you can see Idaho Springs has it all.

Done with All the Outdoor Fun?

Take a break at one of the local restaurants or bars to restore your energy. Stop at Beau Jo’s for pizza, Tommyknocker Brewery & Pub for a nightcap, and Silverlake Lodge to rest up. You can have a nice day trip, or let the adventure continue by staying at one of our B&B’s! Wherever you go in Idaho Springs, fun is sure to follow. Happy Great Outdoors Month!
