Denver Children’s Home

Denver Children’s Home

“Denver Children’s Home is a place for kids who thought they would never get another chance to have a successful life.”  Giving back is very important to us at This IS Idaho Springs, and this is the perfect time of year to give a little extra! That’s why we’re partnering with 12 great charities in the Denver Metro area, such as the Denver Children’s Home, to highlight the great work that’s happening all year round!

What They Do

As the oldest non-profit in Colorado, the Denver Children’s Home has been faithfully serving the state’s youth since 1876. They work to help kiddos in the area who are struggling with trauma and mental illness by providing a safe place for them to learn, grow, and adapt. They aim to help the kids build the proper coping skills to deal with whatever life throws at them and provide healthy outlets for their emotions.

The Denver Children’s Home has the highest-quality, trauma-informed care. They place a greater focus on non-verbal therapy – things that everyone uses to de-stress and cope with difficult situations. This can include everything from art and music therapy to yoga therapy and animal-assisted therapy. Their services work to meet the needs of each individual child, with residential services, day treatments, and in-home therapy. Their work in the community makes a big difference in the lives of so many!

Community Impact

The Denver Children’s Home mission is central to everything they do. Every interaction with the kids is seen as an opportunity for a therapeutic relationship.  Instilling in the next generation the skills to adapt to change and build healthy relationships is key to build the community we will continue to need. The impact of their work is evident in the community through the changed lives of so many. To get involved in their efforts, visit their website and see how you can help.
