RapidGrass Festival & Other Events are Popular Idaho Springs Activities

One of the crowd favorite Idaho Springs activities is attending events. You’ll be able to find the perfect event to coincide with your trip, but some of the highlights include RapidGrass Festival, 4th of July, Pumpkin Smash, Glacier Fest, Dynamite Days, and the Christmas Tree Lighting! Attending the town’s events is always a blast, and lets you get a feel for the local culture. In Idaho Springs, we’re a family and these events are the perfect way to celebrate that! No matter what, there’s an event that IS for you!

Any season, any time, you can find the perfect Idaho Springs activities for you and your family. Stopping by in the summer? You can find rafting, hiking, ATVing, and more at the ready! As rafting season lasts from Memorial Day to Labor Day, you have the opportunity to enjoy at any point during your summer vacation! Coming through Idaho Springs in the winter? Can you say skiing, snowboarding, tubing, and other fun snow activities? Echo Mountain is our local ski area, but Loveland is close by as well and offers even more winter fun!

The newest activity in Idaho Springs is a winter favorite- ice skating! Lace up your skates and hit The Frozen Fire Ice Rink at Digger Field. No Colorado winter is complete without a skating session. The rink is open every day from 9:00 AM to 4:15 PM with reservations required. Skate rentals are available if you don’t have your own. The rink will eventually host hockey, figure skating, and curling. Don’t miss out on all the activities The Frozen Fire Ice Rink has to offer!

If you’re coming by in the fall, get ready for the best leaf peeping you’ve ever seen. The aspen trees will blow your mind and make you want to stay forever. Visiting in the springtime can also offer the best of both worlds! There’s still snow for the fun activities it brings, but you also have more access to hiking and trails throughout the area! 2019 was filled to the brim with outdoor activities that leave you speechless, and more are on their way in 2020!

Food, Shopping, and Friends, Oh My!

If nothing else, you have to take a moment to enjoy the downtown Idaho Springs activities. The local restaurants bring a unique twist to classic favorites. Beau Jo’s famous Colorado Pizza and Smokin Yard’s delicious BBQ are calling! The shopping is also a one-of-a-kind experience. Find local handmade pieces at Kind Mountain Collective, or special souvenirs and gifts at one of the gift shops around town! And, of course, this wouldn’t be the highlight reel for 2019 if we didn’t mention the wonderful people from our beautiful town. The locals make the town what it is and they will make you feel welcome – every time.
