Founded in 1951

Flying Moon Cabins was founded by Vera Scott in 1951 and gives you all of the rustic feels of camping without any of the hassles. The original woodwork of each cabin still remains intact to give you the same vintage charm and appeal that it had back in the day! Take a trip to this secluded, three-acre area to help you escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Although these cabins are tucked away in the trees of Clear Creek County, they are still just a short 10-minute drive from Downtown Idaho Springs.

Cozy Cabins

Their cabins offer full kitchen setups, including dishware, pans, utensils, a french press, and paper towels. You don’t have to worry about bringing bath towels or having running water either! All four cabins are duplexes with the same size and layout, but each offers a different personality in terms of decor. You can book a stay at the White Rabbit, the Cardinal, the Canyon Rose, or the Wild Iris cabin.  The White Rabbit cabin is especially enticing because of its private sauna feature. You can choose to relax by the calming creek or wind down in a steamy sauna with this deluxe cabin feature. Want the whole property to yourself? They also offer full-property reservations for groups of up to 8!

Built-in Amenities

Your stay at Flying Moon Cabins is completely contactless, meaning you check-in and checkout via an online code. The location is prime because of its proximity to popular hiking trails like Hell’s Hole and Mt. Evans, and you can start your hike right from your cabin. If you want to check out Echo Mountain too, it’s only a short 10-minute drive to hit the slopes! The creek next to the cabins helps you embrace the outdoors with activities like fishing, and when temperatures drop, you can sit by and enjoy the winter wonderland around you. If the creek is not frozen over, you will be able to see a nice waterfall and even gold dust in the water. Vera and her husband Edgar tried to mine back in the day – maybe you’ll find a souvenir to keep to remember your stay! Your pup is also welcome to stay with you to this outdoor oasis for a small fee.
