Virginia Canyon Mountain Park Off to a Great Start

Virginia Canyon Mountain Park Off to a Great Start

Virginia Canyon Mountain Park in Idaho Springs, Colorado? Lots of state names here! Currently in the planning stage, the Virginia Canyon park project is going to increase the number of hiking and biking trails in the area and connect with other developments such as the Clear Creek Greenway project. Virginia Canyon occupies 400 acres and is currently classified as “open space” – but not for long! Through the partnership of the Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) and the city of Idaho Springs, this area is slated to be the newest attraction for the town.

Off the Beaten Path

The Virginia Canyon open space is full of informal trails that may not be right for everyone and likely don’t measure up to standards. Because the area is already in such high demand for recreation, it makes perfect sense to create trails throughout that fit everyone’s speed. With plans to create trails for beginner, intermediate, and advanced hikers and bikers, you will be able to experience the nature and beauty of Clear Creek County in a way that suits you exactly.

The plans currently express a desire to keep the area as natural as possible – this will make the experience even more enjoyable. Even those who are less experienced or want a shorter route can enjoy the scenery that this great town has to offer. The trails will snake through the open space, potentially connecting the new Greenway and Central City. The Virginia Canyon project is aiming to add yet another attraction to beautiful Idaho Springs. With recreation being such a big draw, it’s obvious why this would bring more people through the town.

Can-ya(n) Believe It

The master plan for Virginia Canyon Mountain Park that outlines the design and purpose for the project is scheduled to be unveiled sometime this Spring. We can all look forward to the new trails and recreation this will bring as well as the growth to the community. Because of its location, hikers and bikers will be able to enjoy all of the other attractions Idaho Springs has to offer. From the restaurants to the shopping, the entire town can benefit from this development.
